What is an HCM readiness assessment?

A structured, evidence-based review, completed before implementation starts, of whether the organisation has the sponsorship, scope clarity, process knowledge, data ownership, capacity, and governance to begin well. It produces a per-domain rating and one decision: proceed, fix first, or delay.

How is pre-implementation readiness different from go-live readiness?

Pre-implementation readiness tests starting conditions — decision rights, objectives, current-state knowledge, data ownership, capacity. Go-live readiness tests whether a configured, tested system can switch over on a chosen date.

Who should own the readiness assessment?

The sponsor owns the decision, while a project lead coordinates evidence gathering. Domain ratings should come from each area's owners — process, data, payroll, HR, and IT — challenged by someone with no interest in a particular answer.

What should happen when a domain is rated not ready?

Name the gap, its owner, and the fix, with a date. If the domain is foundational — sponsorship, data ownership, or capacity — delay the start until the fix is evidenced. Otherwise proceed only with the fix tracked as real work.
